Spanish Marjoram is a wild growing Mediterranean herb, native to the Iberian Peninsula of Portugal and Spain. In fact, its appearance is more similar to Thyme than to Marjoram which is reflected in the botanical name of the plant: Thymus Mastichina.
Spanish marjoram oil can be easily confused with oregano essential oil which is also known as wild marjoram. But make no mistake, Spanish marjoram has many outstanding qualities which distinguish it from other essential oils.Spanish marjoram, like other 1,8-cineole rich oils like eucalyptus and rosemary, can be used in a similar way.
