Ravensara essential oil is not the same as Ravintsara oil. Though both originate in Madagascar and have strikingly similar names, they are very different. Ravensara essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Ravensara aromatica, sometimes referred to as a clove nutmeg. It is a bush-like plant with glossy leaves and berries that is a member of the laurel family mostly found in Madagascar.
It can make a great alternative to oils such as Tea Tree or Eucalyptus to use if suffering from cold or flu like symptoms.
You may find that Ravensara blends especially well with Roman Chamomile, Lemon, Thyme, Lavender, Myrtle and Ginger.
